We’re delighted to introduce Lorna Brown, who joined the Softlink Education team in May 2025 as a Senior Sales Consultant. Lorna works with international customers and prospects, as well as all UK primary schools, bringing over 12 years of experience supporting schools to strengthen their library provision.
To help you get to know her a little better, we asked Lorna a few questions about her role, her reading journey, and life outside of work.
I’ve been with Softlink since May 2025 and I’m part of the sales team, working with our international customers and prospects, as well as all UK primary schools. I bring over 12 years of experience working with schools that are looking to implement or improve their library provision.
What I enjoy most is helping schools find solutions that really support reading and learning outcomes. It’s also great being part of such a supportive and passionate team.
The first book I remember absolutely loving as a child was one by Anthony Browne. I used to pick books from the school library written or illustrated by him because he shares the same name as my dad. I honestly believed for a long time that my dad had written all those books! His unique style and captivating stories really stuck with me, making those books some of my earliest favourites.
I don’t have just one favorite author, but I always find myself drawn to true stories. There’s something really compelling about reading real-life experiences and learning from them. Whether it’s memoirs, biographies, or historical accounts, I love how true stories give a deeper insight into people’s lives and the world around us.
When I’m not reading, I love spending quality time with my family—meeting up and enjoying those moments together means a lot to me. I also dedicate many weekends to supporting my daughter in her dance events, which is always a joy. Outside of that, I enjoy traveling to explore new places and cultures, and I find working on house renovations really rewarding—it’s great to see the progress and put my personal touch on our home.
If I could travel anywhere tomorrow, I’d choose Brisbane, Australia. My sister moved there back in January, and I haven’t had the chance to visit her yet. It would be amazing to spend time with her, see where she's living, and explore the city together. Plus, the warm weather and beaches wouldn’t hurt either!
We’re delighted to have Lorna on the Softlink team and know that schools will value her insights, support, and genuine enthusiasm for libraries.
