2017 Softlink School Library Survey Reports

Findings from the 2017 Softlink School Library Surveys are now available.

The annual surveys provide a reference point for understanding changes, impacts, opportunities, challenges and trends over time.

The reports present findings from the 2017 Australian and New Zealand School Library Survey and the 2017 UK School Library Survey with points for analysis including library budgets, staffing levels, library services, and trends.

Continued investment in school libraries is vital for the development of literacy and improved educational outcomes. Librarians and library staff play an important role in student academic development. It is clear there is a growing requirement for digital and online resources and that school-wide access and integration is important for engaging students in learning.

Responses indicate that many school libraries in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK continue to struggle with funding and resourcing.

Both reports are available from our resources page.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey, we appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to continuing to work together to build stronger school libraries.
