Big jump in eBook statistics in 2016

OverDrive have released their 2016 eBook statistics, which show that the number of eBooks and audiobooks borrowed on the OverDrive K-12 digital reading platform rose 48% compared to 2015.

Over the last few years, the Softlink Australian and New Zealand School Library Survey has shown a steady increase in the purchase of eBooks by school libraries (a 30% increase between 2014 and 2015), and these latest figures from OverDrive indicate that with the improved availability, K-12 students are becoming increasingly comfortable with using digital book alternatives.
