The Waterford Learning Centre at Christian Brothers’ High School Lewisham hosted an Oliver v5 Group Training session with a difference in March (2016).
The day was attended by 28 Teacher Librarians from Sydney Catholic Education Office school libraries. In addition to the Oliver v5 advanced training sessions conducted by Softlink’s Sarah Thompson, the group enjoyed presentations from a number of guest speakers including author Deborah Abela.
Christian Brothers’ High School Lewisham’s Principal launched the day, describing the library as the ‘hub’ of the school.
During the course of the day Sarah conducted three advanced Oliver v5 training sessions. Following the sessions, attendees reported that they found the training sessions to be extremely beneficial.
Other well received presentations included, ‘Promoting The Library using Genres, Reading Lists, Displays and OPAC Carousels and Labels and Signage’, and ‘OverDrive MarketPlace Shopping’.
The benefits of the day extended beyond improved confidence in the use of Oliver v5. The opportunity to tour the Waterford Learning Centre and listen to guest speaker presentations left many attendees feeling inspired.
