How did that sneak up so quickly? Last year, we put together a blog post with ideas for activities to celebrate Literacy, and it was super popular! In fact, it was one of our most visited and shared posts of the year, so we thought the time was right to share it again: www.softlinkint.com/blog/article/10-national-literacy-and-numeracy-week-ideas-for-school-libraries
And here are a few more ideas we’ve collected from around the web.
Once again this year, digital literacy is included as one of the foundation skills for the workforce in the 21st Century. If you’d like some inspiration for activities with a digital literacy focus, start here: https://www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au/digital-literacy-activities
Recipes are a great way to combine both literacy and numeracy skills, and create something delicious in the process. Students could bring a favourite recipe to school and copy it out in their own handwriting to present to a favourite person as a delightful gift and keepsake.
If you’re short on time, why not try nursery-rhyme charades? It’s a fun activity that gives whole-body expression to familiar stories, demonstrating that literacy is part of what connects us culturally. Giggles guaranteed!
